Project Life 2016 - Opening Page

Hello 2016 Project Life! I love a fresh start. And more so this year than any other year because I’m finally switching it up. For the past 5 years I have used a 12"x12" album and mostly the same format of page protectors (Design A). This year I will be using a 9"x12" album from Seven Paper. I bought 2 albums and plan on 6 months in one album and 6 months in the other.

For my opening pages I first created this one below using my FUSE tool (love it!) and items I had in my stash. The MEMORIES patch and the ampersand card are from Ali Edwards' Story Kits. I used my Fujifilm Instax camera to take a photo of Mr. X and myself and looking at them now I wish I would have added our ages at the bottom. Oh well, I may add them somewhere else.

If you haven't picked up a FUSE yet, you really should. It is so much fun and I love creating pages like this with little pockets. 

On the ampersand card I added a foam Thicker that says "go". I believe it's from Dear Lizzy.

For the other opening page I am using a 9"x12" page protector with 9 - 4"x3" pockets. I used cards from the January Gossamer Blue Kit and from Ali Edwards' Story Kits.

In the middle I wrote out my plan for this year. I'm not one to create a big list of goals or have a bunch of resolutions, but I like having my reflections on the previous year and my plans for this year at the beginning of this album.

December Memories - Days 1, 2 & 3

Finally found some time yesterday and today to start my December Memories album and it feels pretty good. Ideally I would love to work on this album every day but with work and other priorities it just isn't happening that way right now. It's totally okay and the important thing is I'm not stressing about it and I'm just going with the flow.

Here is a look at the first 3 days of my album. Everything I am using is from the Gossamer Blue December Memories kit. 

Day 1 I told the story of buying lights and a tree stand on my lunch break and then going out after work with Mr. X to buy our tree. The left side is patterned paper that I sewed to the back of the patterned paper I used for my opening pages. I stamped a couple stars and left it at that. On the right I have a two pocket page protector where I added a photo and the story.

Turning the page I have two photos of Mr. X and the tag that came on the tree we purchased. 

So yeah, I went one day following my plan and then changed it up. Ha! For day 2 I simply added a photo to the back of day 1 and for day 3 I used another page protector.

Here is a look at day 2. I told the story of putting the lights on our tree while watching the evening news about what happened in California. I did the journaling in Photoshop Elements and then added the gold letter stickers and a sticker that says 'on this day'. This will probably be my favorite page in the entire album.

On day 3 I had dinner with an old friend at our favorite spot and took this photo while sitting at the table. I could have probably taken a better photo of something more exciting but this is what I had and I'm just going with it.

Working on day 5 today and should have another post up later in the week.

December Memories - The Foundation Video

Happy scrapbook Sunday! I filmed a short video this weekend showing where I am at with my December Memories album. You can still pick yours up at Gossamer Blue!

Hey everyone and welcome to the November Gossamer Blue Blog Hop!

Today I want to share with you a couple pocket pages I put together for our Palm Springs vacation in October. I was planning on creating a mini book or something separate for my photos instead of including them in my Project Life album, but once I saw the November kits it was a done deal. The Thickers spelling out PALM SPRINGS are from the main scrapbooking kit (LOVE) and all the cards are from the main life pages kit.

The colors of the cards this month were so perfect. I love the black and white. And there was also a lot of blue, yellow, orange and red which was great to see.

I created a flip up card with the LET'S EAT card and the thin blue washi tape that came in the main scrapbooking kit. This is one of the inserts I did for my food photos and I included a business card from my favorite place.

Flipping up the card I wrote about all the places we ate at. At the top of the card I stamped 'this is my happy place' which is from the life pages kit.

Gossamer Blue November Kits

Happy Scrapbook Sunday! Perfect day for launching the new Gossamer Blue November kits!

I think you are really going to love the kits this month. Great colors and embellishments especially in the life pages kit. Both main kits have this set of cork numbers and I used them to create a one page spread using 8 photos and a journaling card form the life pages add-on #3 kit (always a fan of kit #3!). I placed a number on the outside of each pocket and then wrote a little about each one on the card in the middle. I embellished the journaling card with come wood veneer pieces from the #3 kit and a stamp from the main kit. This is such an easy way to quickly document a week!

Project Life 2015 | Week 36

HAPPY SCRAPBOOK SUNDAY! Today I want to share with you my week 36 that I made using the October Gossamer Blue kits.

This week was a busy one and I ended up documenting one event on the left and one event on the right. I wasn't sure how the colors from the kit were going to coordinate with my photos but in the end I really like how it turned out.

I travelled to Arizona at the beginning of the week to film a class for Scrapbook.com (EEK!) and included some business cards and my airline ticket from the trip. I could probably do another insert telling more of this story but for now this will do. One of my favorite things from the Life Pages kit were the rub-on transfers from Dear Lizzy. I haven't used rub-ons in SO long and these ones were pretty cool!

When I came back from Arizona I went with my girlfriend to a pre-season Chicago Bears game and I told that story on the right side. Love those So Awesome and Enjoy cards! We went to China town after the game and I just had to grab a business card. :)

Oh Sunday....you are my favorite.

Especially when I can sit and make layouts like this.

I took this photo a few weeks ago when we were up north with some friends. I was on a balcony watching Chris and our friend build a fire and it was such a beautiful night. I had it printed as 6"x12" through Persnickety Prints and it turned out so perfectly. I was thinking of just doing a 6"x12" layout because I'm not really good with 12"x12" layouts but once I laid it down on the cardstock it just seemed to work. I used the Ali Edwards Go Story kit and the gold glitter sunburst came in the Gossamer Blue August add-on kit #2. I love it.

October Afternoon Mini Book

It's SCRAPBOOK SUNDAY and I thought I would share a post I did for October Afternoon's blog a couple weeks ago. So you may have seen this over there but it's been such a long time since I've had a mini book up on my blog that I thought I would put it up here as well. I forgot how much I love to make mini's!!

This album is all about a trip to Great America with my family and I figured a mini book was the perfect way to capture this day!

To create the cover I stamped black ink on kraft cardstock with the Summer roller stamp. I simply stamped over and over and over until I had an area that was 4"x6". I am using 4"x4" and 4"x6" photos in this album so I made the entire album 4"x6". After I cut the front cover I ran it through my sewing machine and added a puffy yellow star and a label for the title and date.

Inside the album I used a mix of Summertime patterned papers and 3"x3" memory cards for my journaling. Once everything was organized in the right order I used a hole punch and metal rings to hold everything together.

For the last page I used my favorite photo from the day of my two brothers on the roller coaster X-Flight, and the same patterned paper I used on the inside of the front cover. The geotag that is stamped throughout the album is from the Summertime clear stamp set and I love the size of it!

Here is the back of the album. I used the same technique as I used for the front and then ran it through my sewing machine.

Today I want to share this 6"x12" layout I created yesterday with a photo I took in Punta Cana this week. When I returned home on Thursday I had received my Click Story Kit and still had some Studio Calico Lisse Street kits waiting to be used. I wanted to tell the story of me sitting on the beach under a straw hut to get away from the sun for awhile. The sun and I have quite the relationship and I'm proud to say I came back from vacation just about as pale as the day I left. For some that would be a total vacation fail. For me, it was a success.

'Here's the Story' and 'This Is Me Right Now' are both from the Click Story Kit. The pink and gold phrase stickers and patterned paper are from the Lisse Street main scrapbook kit. And the gold 'Captured' was from the Tulip kit. Love those gold script stickers!

This afternoon I finished this layout documenting 7 AM and 7 PM on March 10. I love this idea of capturing a specific time in the day...kinda like day in the life or week in the life but much simpler. The square transparencies I stapled to the photos, the chipboard pieces and the stamps underneath the date are all from the Ali Edwards Story Kit AM/PM.

The journaling cards are from the Project Life Seafoam kit and the stamps at the bottom are from the Get Real Story Stamps. These story kits are awesome and I'm finding myself documenting stories I would never have thought of. Love it!

Happy Scrapbook Sunday!

I've been wanting to do this layout for awhile and today it FINALLY came together. (Even though it took several tries to stamp the 2014 BOOKS title. Ugh.) I read more books in 2014 then I did in my entire. Seriously. I've never been a big reader but something changed in 2013 and then in 2014 it was just crazy. So I figured this story needed a layout and I wanted it to capture everything I read during the year.

The layout is 6"x12" and the photo is 4"x6". The light blue, gold numbered die cut labels are from Studio Calico's Project Life Kit Odyssey. I wrote the name of each book and author, in the order I read them, on each tag and then adhered them to a piece of cardstock. I placed gold stars and hearts next to the ones I liked the most. The 2014 BOOKS title was stamped with the Clearly Kelly Outline Letters.

Happy Sunday! Today I want to share with you a layout I finished this afternoon called "Love These People". This photo was taken on Valentine's Day using the panoramic setting on my iPhone. I've done a panoramic photo before but not with a table full of people. Mr. X thinks everyones face is a little distorted and he's right. But I think it's still a great photo and I love it. I printed it on 8.5"x11" photo paper and the size of the photo is 2.25"x10.5".

I adhered the photo to a piece of white cardstock and then used some plastic shapes at the bottom from Ali Edwards Story Kit AM/PM. The 'Love These People' chipboard piece is from the Gatherings Story Kit. I used some foam dots under the cork hearts to give them a little dimension and for the journaling strip I used some gray alpha stickers, stamps and word strips along with some hand journaling along the top.

I love this layout. Even though the faces are distorted and the color is way off, it still captures the awesome time we had that night.

Today I created this layout with a recent photo I took of myself while traveling back from a work trip. I used a couple filters on the photo with RadLab and printed it as 11"x6". I adhered it to a piece of 8.5"x11" cardstock then used the left side for different pieces of patterned paper and embellishments. The 'On Life Right Now' journaling card is from the Ali Edwards Story Kit Gatherings and I cut it down to fit the space. I love the look of layering pieces and pairing it with a large photo.

Today I want to share with you a layout I finished yesterday before heading out to our Valentine's dinner. This photo is from the day after a crazy snow storm we had and I decided to drive to work instead of work from home. I was at the office all by myself and noticed this beautiful view out one of the windows. Since nobody was there I went over and snapped a photo.

The photo is 7"x11" and I mounted it to a piece of textured, white cardstock. Not sure that was necessary but I am placing it in a page protector with another layout and I wanted them to be the same size back to back. The pink circle that says "That One Time", the ampersand circle and the red heart circle are from Ali Edwards Story Kit - Gatherings and the other embelishments are from Studio Calico. The letter stickers are BasicGrey.

I have gone back and added the date to the side because I think that's important. Other than that I like the simplicity and I loved using a bunch of letter stickers directly on the photo.

Happy Sunday!

Today I had this idea to make a monthly insert for February using a baseball card page protector and these large, white letter stickers from American Crafts. Last year I created monthly dividers for my Project Life album and you can read more about them here. I didn't know if I was going to continue with it this year until this morning, I guess. Since it's February I thought hearts were appropriate and red thread that I obviously got carried away with. Not sure I will follow this same format for the other months as I'm trying to just go with whatever this year and not stick to any concrete plans...but I really like it and I think you could do this layout for any month.
