Mr. X recently purchased a glass cutter for some projects he was working on. And lucky for me, it's coming in handy for some things I've seen on Pinterest - where else.
I love the look of these. I can't remember exactly where I saw it but they used them outside so the wind wouldn't put out the candle. Brilliant, right? I can't wait to put them on our patio this summer. And I can't wait to drink more wine.
We celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday today and I made her this card for the occasion. I scraplifted the idea from Lisa Truesdell's AWESOME layout. She is a confetti master and I love it.
This video shows you exactly how to create the confetti pockets and it was actually a lot easier than I thought. I'm so happy with how it turned out.
I've been seeing some really cool use of confetti on Pinterest and other blogs lately and I was dying to give it a try myself. Talk about FUN.
I made a card using Studio AE-Bring On The Love stamps that one lucky person in my family will probably receive for Valentine's Day. The plastic layer sewn over the top and holding all the confetti in is from a page protector.
I'm thinking this will be a great way to use some of the paper I don't care for anymore but that I can't seem to throw away. I'm also thinking of some birthday's coming up.....oh the possibilities.

Around here things are finally getting back to normal after the holidays.
Around here we have a new framed chalkboard hanging on our wall thanks to Mr. X. He made these for his family for Christmas and thankfully he made one for us. Though I am a little worried what he will draw on it. Like the face in the lower right hand corner.
Around here it is getting colder and colder and colder and I'm done with it.

Around here we are discovering how awesome string cheese rolled and baked in garlic butter crescent rolls is.
I love this time of December when I start to finish all the holiday projects I started in November. I spent the weekend finishing up some handmade gifts and a few things for our house. This year I have Pinterest to thank for all the amazing ideas. The glitter flower above was made with a TOILET PAPER ROLL! I know. Next year I want my entire tree covered with these. And this...I don't even know what to call it but I LOVE it and I'm now on the hunt for burnt out light bulbs. These were purchased super cheap at the True Value Hardware going-out-of-business sale in our area. It was quite challenging to make but it was fun having Mr. X help. I'm thinking of a tree topper for next year. You can see how to make them here.
Finally, I spent the weekend baking up a storm for my brother and his girlfriend in Portland. Round 2 starts Thursday. Stay tuned for the best recipe ever.

So I've been MIA the past couple of weeks because I've been working on my Halloween costume day and night. Such a relief to finish Saturday afternoon and wear it to a party Saturday night.
If you haven't guessed - I was a piñata!
The dress is just a plain black dress from H&M and I taped the crate paper on top. I think I used about 12 rolls of double sided tape. And yes, I cut every piece by hand. For a girl who loves paper and craft projects this was super fun...until about 12 hours in. Then it was just ridiculous.

My hat is just a birthday hat covered with crate paper and I made crate paper streamers come out the top. In the end I was very happy with how it turned out even though I couldn't really sit down and getting it on and off was a challenge. And going to the bathroom was quite difficult too. But at least I had made a matching ring. Now on to the next holiday projects!
This is my Halloween costume. I've already spent about 5 hours on it and I'm about 1/4 of the way done. I do think this is my favorite costume ever and I believe I may have found my new talent. Hopefully it will be done before Halloween.
I saw this idea on Pinterest awhile ago although I cannot figure out where it originated. Anyways, I thought it was the perfect project for the old maps that have been sitting around here collecting dust. It also gave me something to look for at estate sales which is always fun. I used a small heart punch and punched out places Mr. X and I have travelled to together. I am missing a few cities but I will just add them when I find them. I love how it turned out!
I hung it with some other prints we have picked up along the way. It's been fun looking for these when we go someplace new. Hoping the wall will continue to grow over the years.

This came from a great blog called How About Orange. Super simple, colorful and FREE. My kind of project. I was thinking of filling them with colorful candy and tying them with baker's twine. Or maybe making green and red ones for Christmas.
Just what I need....another obsession. Washi Tape. I bought my first two rolls while in Seattle last month at a fantastic Japanese bookstore and just used it on Sunday. Now I want to buy 20 more rolls. Of course I hit up Pinterest to see what others are doing with it and of course - the possibilities are endless.
Yes it is just patterned masking tape but that's what I love about it. The patterns.

I really enjoyed June's prompt because it forced me to bring out the paint and open the supply drawer that is seldom used. I chose the colors red and turquoise because it is one of my favorite color combinations. I first started by painting layer upon layer upon layer of acrylic paint and Making Memories paint until I came up with a color I liked.
I then started stamping and embossing with UTEE and coloring with oil pastel crayons which are super fun to use. The lined cards were done with embroidery floss and the circles on the red cards were done with twisted floral tape. I used Mod Podge to adhere and seal.
In the end I loved getting paint all over my hands and watching the process unfold. It was fun just to BEGIN.

My little sister just finished a big girl room makeover and she now has an empty bulletin board in desperate need of some cool thumbtacks. I found this great tutorial at How About Orange and gave it a try today. OH. MY. GOSH.
I was shocked at how simple these were to make. It was like magic! So fun. I bought the button kit in three different sizes at Joanne Fabrics for only a few dollars each. The only other things you need are material or ribbon to cover the button and thumbtacks to glue on the back. The flower material I used was from the pajamas I used for my last project and the other pattern was a piece of ribbon. The kit has instructions on the package with a template for cutting your material.
I glued the thumbtacks to the back with Gorilla Glue. I'm hoping it holds.
I took it one step further with the smaller buttons and got out some of my felted flowers. I glued a thumbtack to the back after I sewed the button on. Once again....I think I'm in love.
I was looking for my shorts this weekend for our upcoming vacation and I came across these Old Navy silk pajamas buried in the back of my drawer. I remembered that I didn't like how they fit but I LOVED the pattern so I was holding on to them just in-case I changed my mind one day. I guess Sunday was the day. I got out the scissors and went to work. I grabbed my favorite green J. Crew scarf and decided to make a similar sized scarf. I cut a strip from each leg and sewed them together. It goes perfectly with my new J. Crew hat.
