For the past 7 years (minus 1 year) I have made an album for my December stories. They are some of my favorites and every year I think...do I really want to do this again? And the answer is YES! December is definitely hectic and stressful but doing this album has helped me celebrate what is really important during this season. Also doing something creative throughout the month is very therapeutic for me. I always love to play with photos and paper and stamps and stickers.
My albums have been small and simple and I believe there is no other way to go about it. If it was super complicated I know I would not keep up with it during the month. I also want to have fun with this project and try new things. Last year I actually used a 6"x8" album and I'm using that size again this year. It's a great size! I dressed up my album a couple weeks ago and last weekend I started the foundation pages which I will share before the end of the month. The album is gorgeous but I wanted to play a little. I painted it white using a matte white paint from Target and then added the gold washi tape from the kit to the red cloth portion of the album. The kit comes with some really pretty chipboard pieces and I added the gold December piece to the front.
I used the gold washi tape on the back as well but left the spine white. I will probably add the year on the side. I did use a little ModPodge over the washi tape just to make sure it stays put.
Inside the album I painted everything white except the red cloth spine. I love the little pop of red when you open the album!
So that's the start of my album which I love putting together before December begins. I have placed a bunch of the page protectors, cards and patterned paper inside but I'm still moving things around. My plan is still coming together and I will definitely post the inside pages when I'm ready!
