A couple weekends ago I got together with some girlfriends for a craft day. We played with sewing pattern paper and made some pretty little things. You can find old sewing patterns at garage sales or thrift stores for super cheap.
We first started with covering old mason jars using Mod Podge and strips of paper.
Mod Podging the pattern paper to the outside of the jar was much easier than Mod Podging to the inside, but I love how both of them look. With the paper on the outside I can use the jar for a vase or a candle holder.
We also covered tiles to create coasters. These were super easy and would make a great gift!
Here are the four I made...
The tiles we used were white but you could probably try other colors for a different effect since the paper is so thin. I cut large and small pieces and just kept layering with glossy Mod Podge to create a collage. For the back we used little felt stickies from the hardware store.
Both projects were simple, in-expensive and fun to do with friends on a cold afternoon. My kind of project!
